RAM Truck Maintenance Schedule at Auffenberg Dealer Group
RAM trucks are constantly vying for the position of "King of the Hill" when it comes to hard-working, hard-playing vehicles that can get anything done with top-notch power, performance, towing, hauling, and off-roading. A schedule of regular routine maintenance is essential to ensure that performance lasts for years to come. Whether you have a Ram Lifted 1500, a RAM 1500, or RAM 3500, their maintenance schedule is similar. Check out our overview of a RAM Truck Service Schedule.
Overview of RAM Pickup Truck Service
Keeping your heavy-duty RAM truck in shape means following its recommended schedule of routine maintenance. The best way to do this is to follow the recommended schedule in your owner's manual and work with your local Shiloh RAM dealership. For quick reference, however, here is an overview of the basics.
The essentials of RAM maintenance begin with an oil change every 8,000 miles. Such regular oil changes, however, are just the beginning of preventative maintenance.
RAM Pickup Service: The Basics
Your RAM pickup truck requires regular service every 8,000 to 10,000 miles, or at least once per year. At these intervals, you will need to perform basic maintenance tasks. These consist of:
- Tire rotation
- Engine oil change
- Oil filter change
In addition, at this interval you will also receive inspection of your systems just to ensure everything is still working as it should.
20,000 Miles
At 20,000 mile intervals, in addition to the above, your RAM truck will see the following insepctions:
- Tie rod ends
- Brakes
- Front suspension
30,000 Miles
At each 30,000 mile interval, you will see the following components inspected:
- Replace engine air filter
- CV joints
- Front and rear axles
- Transfer fluid case
60,000 Miles
At the 60,000-mile interval we recommend changing transmission fluid and filter, engine coolant, and brake fluid. Your service technician will check all of your fluids at this interval, as well as their associated components.
100,000 Miles
The 100,000-mile benchmark is where we often perform a basic tune-up which can include, among other things:
- Inspecting lines and hoses for wear and tear
- Changing PCV valve
- Changing spark plugs
120,000 Miles
At 120,000 miles, transfer fluid is usually replaced, and in 4WD models, the transfer fluid case inspected. It's also time to replace fluid filters to protect your engine.
150,000 Miles
When you reach 150,000 miles, all fluids should be flushed and changed.
