The Heart of the Jeep Compass
No matter which trim of 2024 Jeep Compass you choose, you get to enjoy a potent 2.0 L four-cylinder turbo engine, delivering up to 200 hp and a mighty 221 lb-ft of torque. The engine is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Engine stop/start technology (ESS) helps with fuel economy, and the Compass’s fuel economy is good, especially on highways where you can achieve an EPA-estimated 32 mpg.
There are five 2024 Compass trim levels to choose from: Sport, Latitude, Latitude Lux, Limited, and Trailhawk. Standard features on all trims include the Selec-Terrain choice of driving modes (Auto, Snow, Sand/Mud), the Uconnect infotainment system that hooks up to your favorite phone apps, and a wide range of driver-assist safety technologies.
New in 2024
The Jeep Compass didn’t change greatly in 2024. There’s a mildly refreshed look with new front grille inserts and updated wheel designs at sizes up to 19″. Additionally, the Compass Trailhawk model is equipped with new all-terrain tires, further enhancing its off-road strength.
Jeep Compass Active Drive 4×4 Systems
The Active Drive 4×4 system operates the Compass as a 2WD during regular driving, providing extra fuel efficiency and optimal performance. When conditions demand it, the system seamlessly switches to 4×4, distributing power between the front and rear wheels for extra traction and stability.
To enable confident navigation over challenging, rocky terrain, the Compass Trailhawk trim is equipped with Jeep’s Active Drive Low 4×4 system, with low-range gearing that achieves a 20:1 crawl ratio for exceptional control and precision. All Jeep Compasses can handle some light off-roading, but the Trailhawk is a dedicated off-roader.

This model also displays the coveted “Trail Rated” badge as a testament to its capabilities.
Compass Towing Capacity
Further boosting the Compass’s adventure-ready specs is a towing capacity of up to 2,000 lbs (when properly equipped). This powerful turbo can haul outdoor equipment such as lightweight boats, MTBs, e-bikes, ATVs, dirt bikes, or small camping trailers.
